The information ministry has appointed Shoki Kandjimi as spokesperson to manage the ministry’s internal and external communication and directly be responsible for attending to media queries effective 1 September 2022.
The ministry’s executive director Audrin Mathe made this announcement in the capital yesterday.
Kandjimi (26) has been an information officer for the ministry’s Kavango East before getting a transfer to Khomas.
“This appointment means a great deal for me and a step in the right direction by the ministry. We have a mandate of ensuring the public gets access to information, and the team and I will make sure of that,” he told New Era yesterday.
The overjoyed communication specialist noted it is a daunting task, especially considering his age and the role he has been entrusted with.
The Windhoek-born Kandjimi served as the senior information officer in the media liaison division under the print media directorate and was re-assigned to the senior public relations officer portfolio in the office of the executive director.
He holds a degree in journalism and media technology from the Namibia University of Science and Technology.
He also obtained an Honours degree in Communication from the same institution.
Kandjimi is no stranger to the limelight, as he served the position of secretary general of the Namibia National Students Organisation for the Khomas region, fighting for the plight of students.
Kandjimi is passionate about public relations and communication, which led to him learning the roles of the industry through working as a public relations intern at Poiyah Media, further exposing him more to the profession.
He also served as an executive committee member at the Public Relations Institute of Southern Africa, the Namibian Chapter from 2018 until 2020.
He is zealous about youth development.
