The police in Oshana have opened a case of culpable homicide against 33-year-old Paulus Shoombe for the death of 12-year-old Tobias Shawana.
The boy was run over by a car on Monday at around 07h00 at Omugongo Estate, where the police usually hold a roadblock.
The Oshana Regional Commander Commissioner Rauha Amwele said Shawana was walking to Emono Combined School where he was a learner.
Shoombe was driving a Toyota Hilux from Oshikuku to Oshakati.
“Shoombe was trying to avoid an accident but swerved and hit Shawana instead. There was a car that stopped to let pedestrians cross the road, but Shoombe did not notice the car stopping so he overturned,” said Amwele.
