WINDHOEK-Julia Nickson from Omafo village has been crowned Miss Namibian Culture, while Immanuel Alex Haludilu has been crowned Mr Namibian Culture 2013 during a cultural event  at the Nice Restaurant last Friday.

Justin Frans was crowned first princess while Uubulunakazi Nambambi as second princess and Fransina Dumeni as Miss Personality.  Miss and Mr Namibian Culture aim to promote and uplift the Namibian culture since it has sensed an erosion in the Namibian cultures in general, especially among the youth. “It was an amazing feeling to be crowned and honoured as Mr Namibian Culture because I am a guy who was brought up traditionally. I will be using this title to encourage Namibian people to respect their cultures and not to go against their own heritage,” says Haludilu.

Julia says that, she was shocked and never expected to win. “At first I wanted to quit simply because I was the only model wearing our traditional costume (Caprivian) and I only came with one while others were wearing for Oshiwambo. I felt I was different among others,  that’s why I tried all my best to give out a good result,’ she says.
