WINDHOEK – Formerly known as the Metropolitan Michelle McLean Children’s Trust (MMCT) Golf Day, was on Wednesday evening launched under a new banner and will now be known as the Momentum Michelle McLean Children’s Trust (MMCT) Golf Fun Day.

Following Metropolitan Life Namibia merger with Momentum Life Assurance Namibia a few years ago, to form the MMI Holding Limited, Momentum has taken over as new headline sponsor of the this year’s 12th edition of the MMCT/Momentum Golf Fun Day, slated for Swakopmund on December 5.

The event attracts approximately 45 teams every year and Momentum has come on board with a handsome sponsorship of N$150 000 to ensure the smooth running of the eagerly awaited fun day.

Besides the sponsorship, MMCT also uses the opportunity to mobilise key stakeholders from different sectors and to raise funds through entry fees, auctions and various sponsored prizes.

Speaking at the launch, chairperson of the Trust, Michelle McLean-Bailey emphasised the importance of golf saying: “Golf, as a disciplined sport, was the perfect networking platform to bring corporate companies together to contribute towards the trust’s fund raising initiatives. This year we plan to make it bigger and better, coupled with lots of fun ”

The former global beauty queen wholeheartedly thanked Momentum for coming on board and investing in the future of the Namibian child, adding that she hoped the relationship will grow and reach greater heights in the near future. The proceeds from the annual event have contributed tremendously to the Trust’s project.

Group CEO of MMI Holdings Namibia, Jason Nandago, said Momentum’s involvement in the event is a result of the passion the company embodies towards the financing of organisations that focus on addressing the needs of communities with a particular emphasis on children, while also taking the Momentum brand to the people.

“As a financial service provider, our core business is centered around empowering individuals through financial resources through a brand that directly speaks and belongs to them.

“We at Momentum have today reaffirmed our commitment towards the development of the trust and we hope next year we can put something much bigger and better on the table,” commented Nandago.
