WINDHOEK-The Franco Namibia Cultural Centre (FNCC), AfricAvenir Windhoek, and Joe Vision Production will host a Namibian Movie Collection meeting next Friday at the FNCC library.
All Namibian Movie Collection members, fans, film industry representatives and the interested public are invited to attend. Five years after its inception, the Namibian Movie Collection (NMC), hosted an impressive collection of films by Namibians and about Namibia. The stakeholders’ meeting looks at past achievements and the way forward. The NMC was initiated in 2009 by Joe Vision Productions and AfricAvenir in an attempt to store, make accessible and promote Namibian film products to the Namibian public, political decision makers, potential investors into the Namibian film industry, filmmakers and the general public in and outside Namibia.
This get-together wants to inform members of the NMC about the status quo of the collection, lessons learnt in the past and the way forward. Participants will be briefed on recent developments, future plans and the great potential of the NMC. “This is for all the filmmakers that has movie in the movie collection and those that do not, we want to talk to them about what is going on now and the way forward on the filmmaking industry,” saYS Hans- Christian Mahnke, the Director of AfricAvenir in Namibia. Mahnke adds that they would like to have more movies about Namibia but some movies are just too costly they cannot afford them. The meeting is open to all interested parties.
