Erastus Amutenya Uutoni was born on September 29, 1961.
Legislative Profile: He is a Swapo Party member of the National Assembly and is the current Deputy Minister of Home Affairs and Immigration. In the past he served as a deputy minister of safety and security.
Education: He is studying towards a Bachelor of Marketing at the Namibia University of Science and Technology (NUST), and holds a Diploma in Police Science and a Certificate in Marketing, from the same institution, a Certificate in Political Science from the Institute of Political Science in Moscow, Soviet Union, and a Diploma in Office Management from the College of Professional Management in Britain. He got training in photo-journalism in Zambia.
Career: He served Swapo as a regional coordinator and also as regional and district mobiliser in Oshana Region. He is an ex-combatant representative in Oshana Region, a former reporter and photographer, having worked for the Swapo mouthpiece, Namibia Today. He was a commander of the First Mechanized Infantry Brigade of the People’s Liberation Army of Namibia in Lubango, Angola.
He underwent military training for six months at Tobias Hainyeko Military Training Centre in Lubango in Angola, where many Namibians underwent military training before independence.
