Tjekero Tweya was born on June 18, 1960.
Legislative Profile: He is currently the Minister of Information and Communication Technology and previously served as the deputy minister of trade and industry and that of finance.
He is a member of the Swapo Party Central Committee and the founding national chairman of the Namibia National Teachers Union (Nantu) and former president of the National Union of Namibian Workers (NUNW).
Education: He holds a Higher Education Diploma, a Certificate in Senior Management, BED (Honours), Certificate in Budgeting in the Public Sector, a Certificate in Public Enterprises and Restructuring of State Owned Enterprises (SOE’s), a Diploma in Management Studies and a MBA.
Career: He is a former general manager of human resources at the Social Security Commission (SSC) and Nampost.
He is also a former member of the Namibia Sports Commission (NSC), Unam Council, convener of the Alumni Association, and a former manager of employment, advancement and administration at Telecom Namibia.
He is also a former human resources manager at TransNamib, deputy director of personnel administration, deputy director of corporate planning in the ministry of basic education, chief education officer, principal at Max Makushe Secondary School, and was also the deputy principal at Maria Mwengere Secondary School, and teacher at Rundu Secondary School. He joined Swapo in 1975.
