The President of the Namibian Football Association, John Muinjo, has confirmed allegations of a bribery attempt by a betting syndicate believed to be of Singapore origin.
Several unnamed senior players in the Namibian camp were allegedly approached in the foyer of their Novotel Hotel in Accra by a man of Arab origin claiming to represent a Singapore-based betting company.
The man wasted little time and knuckled down to serious business, asking the players about the possibility of manipulating the result of Namibia’s final Group A match against Guinea tonight.
