WALVIS BAY – A Walvis Bay woman, who is accused of murdering her boyfriend last weekend, had allegedly suffered abuse at the hands of the victim in the past.
According to relatives who declined to be named, the suspect, 26-year-old Annalie Bees, had allegedly reported the domestic abuse to the police on at least three occasions. There was, however, no immediate confirmation by the police on the issue.
The mother of two Bees appeared in the Walvis Bay Magistrate’s Court yesterday before magistrate Vicky Nicolaidis for the alleged murder of Adolf Naibab (30) on Saturday.
She was not granted bail at this stage due to ongoing investigations and witness statements that still need to be obtained.
Bees, whose youngest child is 11 months old and the eldest four years, was arrested on Saturday at Walvis Bay after she allegedly stabbed Naibab in the thigh during an argument.
Crime investigations coordinator for Erongo, Deputy Commissioner Erastus Iikuyu indicated that the two were drinking at their shack in Tutaleni when they started arguing before the fatal stabbing.
Those close to Bees shortly after her court appearance revealed the couple came back intoxicated and that the deceased allegedly started arguing with Bees.
The deceased allegedly threw an object to Bees who was holding their 11-month-old child at the time.
“This apparently angered Bees and they struggled for a while and in that process she allegedly stabbed him,” a relative said. According to a relative, Bees allegedly ran out to the street to stop a taxi so that she can take him to the hospital.
“At that moment, a police car passed and she stopped them. They in turn called the ambulance. Sadly the man lost too much blood and he passed on while they were waiting for the ambulance,” the source explained. Her case was postponed to 22 February for her to apply for legal aid. She is currently detained at the Narraville police station.
