-Johhanes Petrus, popularly known as Jay-R is a new kid on the block who is inspired by the music itself and says he want to do it for all generations.

Growing up in the northern part of the country in Ondangwa, Jay-R always wanted to be an artist this leading him where he is today. “I grew up listening mostly to American music, the likes of Usher Raymond; the voices of these American geniuses drove my singing passions to the next level, hence recording became an easy subject for me,” he says.

“I write music that comes from my heart, mostly about life, love and Girls, how they make me feel,” he adds.

Jay-R started recording in 2008 when his friend  introduced him to Dj Simz, one of the best producers in Namibia, ending up meeting various  producers such as Ruk, and Maj-Beats, who is also his mentor when it come to music. Jay-R sings RnB, Afro Pop and Hip Hop. “Currently I am working on my album to be titled The Music, Me & You. The album will be released this year and my fans should watch out for this space,” says Jay-R.

Last year he performed around Windhoek occasionally at events such as The Red Carpet Magazine launch at Nice Restaurant, Okahandja Expo, and at Floritha’s CD launch. Currently his singles, Baby and Wonder are enjoying massive airplays on all radio stations.
