By Staff Reporter

WINDHOEK – Old Mutual Namibia has announced its sponsorship of N$100 000 towards the Diversity Namibia Conference scheduled for February 11 and 12.

The event, at which nearly 300 participants are expected, will gather the most influential leaders from the private, public and the civic sectors, discussing trends and challenges that relate to diversity and inclusivity, not only in the workplace but in society as a whole.
Speaking at the sponsorship handover ceremony, Group CEO of Old Mutual Namibia, Kosmas Egumbo, stated that sponsoring an event of this nature provides an opportunity for real conversations on the challenges the market faces in delivering national objectives.

“A conference of this nature creates a platform for senior leaders to work together in on-boarding practical tools that could assist us in our shared vision for Namibia.

Creating a shift of mind and developing Namibia as a country is our collective responsibility. Taking up an opportunity to transform through harnessing the diversity of our national and corporate workforce is a welcome call that Old Mutual is keen to embrace and deliver on,” stated Egumbo.

“By sponsoring this event, Old Mutual will be contributing towards the national debate on what Namibia would look like if we, as a nation, manage to leverage diversity and the essential ingredients needed in order for this to take place.”

Conference facilitator Dr Fons Trompenaars is an organizational theorist, management consultant and author of several books on cross-cultural management and will provide participants with essential tools on how to increase the capabilities of individuals within organizations, to be more creative and innovative, dealing with dilemmas that are created by cultural diversity such as gender, race, ethnic groups and different cultural practices. Trompenaars was voted one of the top 20 Human Resources (HR) Most Influential International Thinkers 2011 by HR Magazine.

He was also ranked in the Thinkers 50 to be one of the most influential management thinkers alive in November 2011, and short-listed as making substantial strides in the contribution to the understanding of globalization and the new frontiers established by the emerging markets. The conference is open to leaders from all industry sectors, including academia, religious society and other non-governmental organizations.
