Naloba: Loans not solution

ONGWEDIVA – Namibia Local Business Association president and prominent businessman Erastus ‘Chicco’ Shapumba called on Namibian businesspeople to work together and cautioned them against loans.

“Loans are not a solution. Many people think loans promote and grow businesses, which is not; loans will leave you in debt,” stressed Shapumba.

He urged businesspeople to work together to lead the nation out of poverty.

Shapumba was speaking at the commemoration of Naloba’s first anniversary on Saturday in Ongwediva.

According to Naloba vice president Peter Kanu Amadhila, so far, 3 200 businesspeople have joined the new association, which was formed last year.

He explained that Naloba is an all-Namibian non-profit association that is not politically or tribally affiliated.

“This association will continue to accommodate all businesspeople from small, medium and micro enterprises,” he said.

Amadhila emphasised the association is established to be a voice, a true heart to the business interests and needs of all native Namibian businessmen and women throughout all 14
regions.  Naloba spokesperson Marius Nangolo said the association strives to advise the government on economic and trade policy, as well as to localise,
protect and promote the Namibian economy.

“All business people who would like to join Naloba are welcome to do so,” he said.
