Lawyer Sisa Namandje earlier this week donated N$150 000 to the Sise Namandje Foundation.

This donation is part of a commitment he made to the foundation to provide various forms of assistance to orphans, as well as meet the educational and other needs of vulnerable citizens in the country.

“This is just to honour the commitment I made at the establishment of the foundation. Last year, we made two donations to the foundation. At a personal level, a few weeks ago, I made a donation to my former school, Uukule Senior Secondary School, and I promised them that as part of my commitment, I would donate from my fees at Sisa Namandje & Co for this year a particular amount towards the work of the foundation, and then the trustees would decide who would benefit,” Namandje said at a press conference.

He added: “Unfortunately, we have a great number of people that are approaching us daily, but we do our part. We ask that our partners and the whole society, those who are able to give as little as they can, to also do their part.”

The chairperson of the foundation, Taimi Iileka-Amupanda, said the foundation, has since its establishment in 2022 had a wide mandate of catering to educational needs, orphans and vulnerable children through organisations registered under the National Welfare Act.

“We’ve really gone over and beyond in trying to meet this mandate as the trustees of the Sisa Namandje Foundation, and we get annual donations from our founder to try and assist in some of these areas.

This year, we’ve been inundated with various requests from students who have educational needs, from sports clubs that have needs related to their activities in the sports industry, and from entrepreneurs all over the country,” she said.

The lawyer added: “One of the projects we have deliberately decided to invest in this year is a collaboration with a foundation called the Indongo Edu-Lunch Foundation. It’s a foundation based in the Oshikoto region, where they are providing lunch for young learners going to school, having identified a need in their community to cater to this gap that exists for many young learners who are going to school, but either do not have lunch at home, or do not have dinner.”
