Home Time Out NAMAs hosts announced

A top male model and fashionista, a recording artist, a hit-making Hip Hop and Kwaito artist of note, a revered versatile actor and hospitality entrepreneur, a prime time radio presenter, a television presenter, an in-training radio disc jockey and lifestyle television programme presenter.

These are the faces that will be gracing the television screens during the live screening of the Namibian Annual Music Awards (NAMAs) Nama on Friday, April 29 and Saturday, April 30. as hosts. And they are:

Mappz Kapofi

Matthew Mappz Kapofi  is a Radio Presenter & Producer, TV Personality, Hip Hop Artists, Singer/Song Writer and a Bar Manager. He has been a recording artists since 2004 and has collaborated with a large number of Namibian artists. He is currently a Radio Presenter/Producer at 99FM (Saturday & Sunday 10-14hrs) and released his much anticipated album,  the 1st Masterpiece, early last year featured artists such as Ras Sheehama, Tesh, Tequila, Gazza, Cashley (Cyberspace Music), Adiva, Playshis the Poet, Truth and Suzy Eises.

El-Shaddai Aluteni

A smart, beautiful, spontaneous soul and an Olympiad Chess player, who gleams with pride on being a modern woman that has not forgotten the traditional values bestowed upon her by her elders. She considers herself an introvert but maintains that her “quirky nerd” edge is something that drives her to explore the world and challenge conventions without losing her ladylike charms. She is passionate about radio and television and entertaining people through those mediums.  Creative & Innovation; she and her friends have started a brand new TV show called This Entertainment. Lastly; she loves to take walks, crazy about dogs and reads everything under the sun.

Uejaa Kazondunge

Born and bred in Windhoek, she has been in the entertainment industry for the past nine years where she has developed an impressive list of clients that have requested her services a director of ceremonies and event hostess. The year 2011 saw her as the main host alongside Mufaro Nesongano for the first ever Namibian Annual Music Awards (NAMAs). She was also a host for the Last Band standing competition in 2012-2014.

She’s currently employed as Head: Marketing, Promotions and Sponsorship at Shipanga Holdings (PTY) LTD, freelance radio presenter on Energy 100fm, media graduate from NUST and voice over artist for radio & tv adverts.

Mohammed Shehu

As an MC, radio presenter, model, multi-linguist and student of the world who has lived in five different African countries so far, Mohammed aims to bring an artistic richness to any endeavour he undertakes. As a current PHD candidate, Mo seeks a cutting-edge solution to fusing the futuristic world of IT together with the creative world of Media, with the aim of catapulting Africa to global heights of world-class broadcasting.

Luis Munana

Runway model, MC and TV personality, Luis Munana has gone from a relatively unknown ‘Big Brother Africa’ contestant to an entertainment powerhouse in the shortest time. If he’s not posting thirst traps on social media, he’s jet-setting to one of his endless intercontinental hosting gigs or better yet, getting inducted into the Namibian Business Hall of Fame as an emerging entrepreneur. A social media aficionado, Luis has over 120 000 Instagram followers, a combined Facebook Public and Fan page with 30 000 fans and 24 000 followers on Twitter making him the country most digitally followed personality.

Paul De Prince

Paul Munanjala known as Paul Da Prince, is an electronic media graduate from the University of Namibia as well as a TV & Radio personality. He hosts the weekly entertainment show – Whatagwan on NBC. He is 24 years old and has worked on numerous events and platforms over the past 12 months including last year’s NAMA’s, DSTV’s “Kumwesu” and the Trey Songz concert. He is also a musician, actor, DJ and videographer. He just released his self-titled debut album on the 31st of January, 2016 and has already opened for SA Hip-Hop sensation, Cassper Nyovest. Paul is an enthusiastic, passionate and fun loving individual who seeks to entertain the masses.

Tanya Daringo

Tanya Daringo is known for hosting the popular lifestyle and travel magazine programme, Tutaleni on NBC 1.

He was Born and raised in Windhoek. A television and radio personality, Tanya is a young woman of essence. She was nominated as one of three short list candidates for the Windhoek Lager Community Ambassadors award in Namibia, being the youngest nominee of this category to date; listed as one of 30 inspirational young Africans in 2014 and recently been awarded one of the first 60 Young Queen’s Leaders Award which was presented to her by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth of England.

Lucy K

Epyenene a village in Okatana, Oshana region is home to the twenty- something year-old Luciana Tshipembe Kangombe.  Born in Angola from Namibian parents,  the young Lucy grew up with her mom and aunt who instilled in her the culture of determination. As felt and seen through her on air persona that started on the Fresh fm radio station,  her quirkiness landed her in the hearts of many Namibians as Lucy K. Her cross cutting persona has seen her sailing through various commercial radio stations. From Fresh Fm she moved to  Energy100fm and then on to the major broadcaster, the NBC, were she and a fellow radio personality launched their own Lucy Squared show. Her mark in broadcasting doesn’t just end at radio. Television got bugged with the Lucy K phenomena and saw her entry on TV doing interactive presenting on Soccer pitch. She recently debuted and became the first female presenter for Soccer Pitch.

Pombily Shilongo

Pombili Shilongo made waves when she interviewed VIP guests on the blue carpet at last year’s NAMAs. Known as the fresh presenter on NBC’s ‘Whatagwan’, Pombili continues to draw in a strong fan base on television as well as on social media. At 24, she does it all. She’s a TV presenter, a part-time model and a student and full time employee at NBC.

Tshopaara ‘Chops/ Chopsy” Tshopaara

His get up and go attitude towards live is well encapsulated by his “Live Well, Play Hard, and Get Freaking Angry” mantra going by the moniker of Chopsy or the mature Chops. The versatile 30- something year-old is all-rounder juggling a full time position between the lively pleasures of a tv commercial actor and voice over artists, host/presenter of a radio show. He is also a potent master mixologist as well as owner/manager of Chopsi’s Bar and events coordinator of funky company Liquid Events, a promotional marketing medium which designs and delivers events for the purpose of promoting and maintaining brand exclusivity.
