Namibia Dairies’ black workers unhappy

Home Editorial Namibia Dairies’ black workers unhappy

Namibia Dairies is a subsidiary of the well-known best company to work for in Namibia and the entire SADC –  the O&L Group. It is the biggest dairy company in the country, with a workforce of over 750 employees.

Truth be told, the majority of employees at the company is black. However, most of them are in low-pay grades. This group is mainly made up of Wambos, Hereros, Damaras and other ethnic tribes.

Moving up the grades, you find mostly whites and coloureds who are promoted and given salary changes every other time. If a black person requests a grading or salary increase, they are often informed that it is not possible, and the door is open for them to go where it pays well. And if for some reason a black person gets a promotion after some serious intervention, they deliberately get set up for failure as no support is rendered to them to execute their work.

Namibia Dairies is a good company with an exceptionally good MD, no doubt about that. However, his heads of department are causing employee dissatisfaction and unhappiness at work.

Of course, the grass is not always greener on the other side, but if someone does not speak up blacks will always be the white and coloured men’s gate boy.
