Namibia to face Cameroon in crucial Futsal encounter

Namibia to face Cameroon in crucial Futsal encounter

Namibia’s women’s futsal team is set to take on Cameroon on Saturday at 20h00 in their second group match of the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) Futsal tournament, currently underway in Rabat, Morocco.

The Namibian side, made up largely of newcomers to the international stage, will be looking to bounce back after a tough 8-1 defeat against hosts Morocco on Tuesday night. Despite the scoreline, the team showed moments of promise, with Fiola Vliete netting Namibia’s lone goal in the encounter.

The emphatic win for Morocco not only inches them closer to securing a spot in the tournament’s semifinals but also underlines the growing strength and investment in women’s sports across the North African nation. They are set to play Cameroon today.

Namibia, meanwhile, will use the match against Cameroon as an opportunity to regroup and showcase their potential on the continental stage. Only the group winner between Namibia, Morocco and Cameroon will advance to the semi-finals.
