South African Afro pop group Mafikizolo is heading to Namibia after a fruitful team-up and caucus by Amorlamor Promotions, Events Solutions and Kasi Vibe Namibia, and
they will be performing in Windhoek on 16 August.
The classic Emlanjeni hitmakers have stood the test of time. Their career in the music industry spans over two decades.
The duo comprising composer Theo Kgosinkwe and lead singer Nhlanhla Mafu said: “Yo #Namibia, hope you are ready, we can’t wait to be with you”.
The group will be entertaining the young and old at the Doc Jubber Hockey Field next to the Hage Geingob Stadium in Suiderhof. Local supporting acts include 4×4 Too Much
Power, Uncle & Friends, Hot Pocket Band, and The Ell’s.
The Ell’s half Artwell Neusu, popularly known as Slickartie, told VIBEZ! it is always an honour to be part of such an amazing lineup, and to open for a huge band like Mafikizolo.
“This opportunity is a big deal for us, and adds significantly to our portfolio. Our supporters can expect the same great vibe as always,” said the enthusiastic percussionist.
He added: “We are working on an exciting playlist that
offers something different from our usual, but it will still bring the energy our audience loves”. Slickartie noted that versatility is crucial for them because it pushes them out of their comfort zone.
“It forces us to be creative, and adapt to the demands of a new crowd. Taking on challenging events helps us grow and innovate with what we have,” he said.
The Ell’s have learnt a lot from Mafikizolo, including their enduring partnership, which is inspiring, especially for bands like them that have been together for a while. The Ell’s have been together for nine years. “Many duos break up due to egos and conflicts, but they have stayed united, proving that we can also stick together for a long time,” said Slickartie.
