Once again, the Namibian shottists proved their skills walking away with an avalanche of medals.
In the men’s team event, hosts South Africa were left with no leg to stand on as they were outclassed by the fired-up Namibians by a big margin.
Of the seven-team routines, the Namibians won four gold, one silver and two bronze medals. In the individual performance, Boellie Malherbe walked away with one 2nd place and one 3rd place finish in the master class.
Andreas Doepke achieved an astonishing two 2nd place finishes of which one was a police pistol routine in which the Namibians had never participated before.
And just to demonstrate how talented the Namibian shottists are, Michael Jaeger walked away with four gold and one silver medal.
In the ladies category, new kid on the block Oenone Pieters, who was supposed to go along just to gain experience, could not resist the sight of the medals and added to the tally with two 2nd places on the podium in her maiden appearance in a major competition.
Meanwhile, the Namibian Pistol Association expressed satisfaction with the overall performance and achievements and also applauded principal sponsors Cisco Networking and Salt Essential Information Technology for their generous support.
