Windhoek

Dancers, singers, models, actors and instrumentalists are invited to apply for auditions and later to take part in the 13th semi-final audition rounds of the Annual Namibian Championships (Olympics of the Performing Arts) before September 15 this year.

The audition, schedule for September 22 to 24 in Windhoek, is organised by the Namibia Association of Talent, Modeling and Entertainment (NATME). The prestigious event has been hosted in Namibia for the past seven years and has previously joined in at the South African Championships of Performing Arts, which has now grown into a world recognised event. Those make it through the audition will qualify to represent their regions at the Namibian Championship in March 2017.

NAMTE’s Chairperson, Gerty Basson, says taking part in the Namibian Championship will give those who made it a chance to represent the country at the World Championships of Performing Arts in Los Angeles, in the United Sates of America (USA) next June. “People are coming back year after year to celebrate the phenomenal talent we have in South Africa, and therefore we want Namibia to end up at the same page. Some of the contestants already have achieved their 10-year participation awards,” she says.

Gold, silver andand bronze medals are at stake as well as overall category trophies in all events, and cash prizes for Grand Champion Award winners.

“If you are looking for a platform to start your performing arts career, then this is your golden opportunity to be discovered. Let’s be proudly Namibian and unite through music and the performing arts,” entices Basson.

However, in the competition, there are two age categories namely, The Junior Section with 5–7, 8-10, 11-12 and 13-15 years age categories; and The Senior Section: the 16-17, 18-24, 25-29 and 30+ years age category.
