Namjive, a local entertainment company dedicated to nurturing young talent, recently hosted a ‘‘Battle of the Giants’’ dance competition at the UN Plaza Theatre. 

The event brought together aspiring dancers from across the country for a weekend of intense competition and inspiring performances.

Ricardo Kameeta, the founder of Namjive, expressed satisfaction with the event’s turnout and the positive impact it had on the participating youth.

“Working with the Namibian youth and pupils who love to dance was very productive. We were proud to engage them through dance classes and motivational speeches,” he said.

Beyond the competition, Namjive used the event to emphasise the importance of education and personal development. The theme ‘‘Battle of the Giants’’ served as a reminder to young people to prioritise studies and avoid negative influences. By promoting education and responsible behaviour, Namjive aims to contribute to a safer and more prosperous future for Namibia’s youth.

The Battle of the Giants dance competition was a success, showcasing the talent and enthusiasm of Namibia’s young generation. As Namjive continues to support and inspire aspiring artists, it is poised to become a driving force in the country’s entertainment industry.

Two dancers called the ‘Peacemakers,’ who won the first prize, said they dance to different genres such as amapiano and kwaito. They performed three rounds, with a mix of six songs.

“We felt great,” one of the dancers said. “I was dancing with my sister’s 12-year-old daughter. I have been teaching her how to dance for two to three years,” said the Peacemaker.

He said the competition was tough, and they faced last year’s winners, a group of four. “It was very tough because my niece is just a child, and they were nervous,” he added.

“I want to take part in many dance competitions, and I have been dancing for nine years. This is something I love doing, that’s why I always take part in many dance competitions,” he said.

“If there is someone who wants to sponsor us for anything, including dancing shoes or dancing clothes, we would really appreciate that,” he said.
