ONGWEDIVA – The Ohangwena Police have opened a case of culpable homicide against the Minister of Regional and Local Government, Housing and Rural Development, (Rtd) Major-General Charles Namoloh, after the car he was driving struck a three-year-old girl.

The incident happened on a gravel road near his village at Oshikango on Tuesday between 09h00 and 10h00.

The Police Regional Commander in Ohangwena Region, Commissioner Tylves Kampolo, confirmed the incident. The minor is said to have died on the spot.

Namoloh was driving his private vehicle when he allegedly knocked down the girl who was crossing the road.

The incident occurred at a blind spot in a hilly area and Namoloh was unhurt.

As per the Motor Vehicle Accident Fund statistics, 11 car crashes were recorded in Ohangwena Region from November 22 to December 14.

The recorded crash covers all crashes that resulted in injuries or fatalities.
