Nampol honours founding president

KEETMANSHOOP – Members of the Namibian Police Force in the //Kharas region on Wednesday held a memorial service in honour of the Founding President Sam Nujoma at Keetmanshoop.

In a speech read on behalf of the law enforcement agency’s management, regional commander Marius Katamila said Nujoma was at the pinnacle for pioneering the fight for the liberation of the Namibian nation.

He spent his youth and productive years away from his motherland for a noble course.

“Through his leadership, an armed resistance was wagged against the South African Apartheid regime.  This consequently led to more dialogues at the international level. It was through such concerted efforts that a new nation (Namibia) was born on 21 March 1990,” the commissioner stated.

He continued: “We all stand united in the spirit of Ubuntu and shall forever be indebted to our founding father for the peace and tranquillity we enjoy as a free nation”.

Katamila said they must reflect on how he gallantly took the oath of presidency, which led to a new Namibian nation in 1990.

“We put mother Kovambo Nujoma, the children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and the Namibian nation at large in our prayers,” he said.
