The smart partnership is embarked upon with the ultimate purpose of enhancing the systems and processes and bringing efficacy in how the water corporation serves and brings more value to its stakeholders, including customers.
In the agreement, the two entities aim to collaborate to transform the water sector through activities such as the rolling out of digital payment channels, smart water metering infrastructure, data analytics and management, smart internet connectivity, and cloud computing for efficient and cost-effective water management, among others. Furthermore, the partnership aims to see NamWater and MTC conduct research to co-create more digital solutions for the water sector.
At the signing event, the leadership of the two entities officially subscribed to a strategic and smart collaboration, asserting it is through such partnership that solutions to contemporary challenges in the water sector can be designed and seamlessly implemented.
NamWater chief executive officer, Abraham Nehemia said; “This partnership marks a transformative step towards addressing the critical challenges facing Namibia’s water sector. By leveraging cutting-edge technology and embarking on initiatives such as smart water metering, digital transformation, and capacity building, we are paving the way for innovative and sustainable solutions. This agreement is more than a document; it is a testament to our commitment to driving efficiency, reducing water losses, and enhancing service delivery for all Namibians. Together, we are setting a precedent for how collaboration between technology and water utilities can deliver meaningful change.”
MTC’s chief technical and information officer, Monica Nehemia, enthused that it is encouraging to see Namibian institutions embarking on a digital transformation journey, in pursuit of business excellence. “It is highly commendable that many entities are adopting a digital flare of conducting business, for it is through such that we remain relevant, competent and achieve excellence as we strive to give value to the people. MTC, as a driver of the digital economy, aims to always create meaningful collaboration with key Namibian public and private institutions and assist them in integrating digitalisation into their operations. We are, therefore, pleased to be initiating a long-term smart cooperative journey with NamWater, focusing on water utility digital transformation,” said Nehemia.
