Nangolo new Oshana coordinator

Nangolo new Oshana coordinator

Ondangwa Urban District coordinator Sam Nangolo has been elected Swapo’s Oshana regional coordinator after defeating youth leader Absalom Itamalo in a closely-contested election.

Nangolo garnered 43 votes, while Itamalo managed 34 votes during the extraordinary regional meeting held in Oshakati on Saturday.

The election was conducted to elect a replacement for Werner Iita, who is moving on to become a member of parliament.

Addressing delegates after his victory, Nangolo expressed gratitude for the confidence placed in him, and emphasised the importance of unity within the party.

“I will be working with comrade Itamalo,” he assured party members, calling for teamwork to strengthen Swapo in the region.

Despite the loss, Itamalo accepted the results, commending the election process as free and fair.

He also pledged to continue contributing to the party and working alongside Nangolo for the benefit of the region.

The election attracted significant interest from Swapo members in Oshana, given the regional coordinator’s key role in mobilising support and ensuring the party’s structures function effectively.

Delegates from various districts in the region participated in the voting, reinforcing Swapo’s democratic principles.

Nangolo now faces the task of leading Swapo in Oshana.

His leadership will be crucial in maintaining party unity, addressing regional concerns and mobilising support. Meanwhile, outgoing coordinator Iita congratulated Nangolo on his victory, and urged him to serve the party with dedication.

“The work does not end here. It is now time to strengthen Swapo in Oshana, and ensure that we continue delivering for our people,” Iita said.
