The Namibia Breweries Limited (NBL) contributed to the national road safety campaign with N$300 000 in support of the prevention of accidents and the enforcement of safety rules across the country.
The funding forms part of the 2025 Festive Season Road Safety Campaign, implemented in partnership with the Motor Vehicle Accident (MVA) Fund and the Namibian Police. The additional resources will be directed towards improving roadside visibility, strengthening law-enforcement operations and reinforcing zero-tolerance messaging during one of the most high-risk periods on Namibia’s roads.
This year’s contribution also marks 20 years of partnership between NBL and the MVA Fund, with the brewer standing as the fund’s largest private sector contributor over that period. The long-standing collaboration has focused on prevention, education and behaviour change aimed at reducing alcohol-related crashes and fatalities.
NBL Managing Director Waldemar von Lieres said the increased funding reflects the company’s continued commitment to road safety.
“Road safety requires leadership and accountability. For two decades, our partnership with the MVA Fund has been driven by prevention and responsible consumption, particularly during the festive season,” he said.
Beyond financial support, NBL has been involved in national awareness programmes such as the ‘Don’t Drink and Drive’ campaign, which promotes moderation and responsible decision-making among road users.
The company cautioned motorists to take personal responsibility this festive season by avoiding drinking and driving, planning ahead for safe transport and complying with traffic laws and speed limits.
With traffic volumes expected to rise significantly over the coming weeks, stakeholders say the increased contribution will help strengthen safety measures on major routes and urban centres, reinforcing efforts to protect lives and reduce preventable road accidents.
