The Namibian Employers’ Federation (NEF) and the Namibia Informal Sector Organisation (NISO) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) which aims to improve the already good existing relationship between them.
In terms of the agreement the NEF will support NISO and their members in any negotiations with the government and local authorities with the aim to improve the business environment of NISO members.
Another vital part of the agreement will be to encourage and assist informal sector entrepreneurs to move towards formalisation of their business operations – this being carried out in accordance with International Labour Organisation (ILO) Recommendation 204.
The two organisations will also investigate the possibilities of business linkages with the intention to benefit all parties.
With these objectives in mind, on a regular basis the NEF staff together with the NISO secretary general will visit NISO members to establish their needs and desires at grass-roots level.
Secretary generals of the two organizations said they look forward to many years of mutually beneficial co-operation between the NEF and NISO.
