Negongo joins Africa Cricket Association board

Cricket Namibia vice president Polly Negongo has taken a major step onto the continental stage after being appointed to the Africa Cricket Association (ACA) board.

His election came during the International Cricket Council (ICC)’s annual general meeting, held recently in Singapore.

The ACA, which functions under the ICC, plays a vital role in shaping the direction of cricket across Africa. Negongo’s inclusion on the board signals growing recognition of Namibia’s efforts in cricket development, particularly in rural areas and emerging communities.

“It’s time for African cricket nations to come together and strengthen the brand of cricket across the continent,” he said, reflecting on the significance of his new role.

Namibia has been widely regarded as a model for grassroots cricket development in Africa.

Through its various initiatives, the country has helped provide opportunities for young players and consistently pushed for broader representation in international cricket.

“Our focus remains on developing cricket, giving players exposure and growing the game in rural and developing communities,” he added.

He stressed the need for structured support and shared vision across the continent.

With this appointment, Namibia is set to play a more active role in continental cricket administration.

The ACA Board will be tasked with aligning African cricket with the ICC’s broader goals of making the game more sustainable, inclusive and globally competitive.

Cricket Namibia has congratulated Negongo on his appointment and believes his leadership will further elevate African cricket on the international stage.
