WINDHOEK – With the rest of the world’s football fraternity revolutionising their game, the Namibia Football Association (NFA) has chosen to follow suit with the establishment of 11 Standing Committees that will ensure the full implement of all NFA programmes and policies.
The decision to establish or introduce the Standing Committees was taken and endorsed by the NFA Executive during their first official Executive Committee Meeting under new President Frans Mbidi at the Safari Hotel in Windhoek last Saturday.
Speaking to New Era Sport yesterday, NFA Secretary-General, Barry Rukoro said the committees, which consist of the following entities; Finance Committee, Audit & Compliance Committee, Competitions Organising Committee, Technical & Development Committee, Referees Committee, Legal Committee, Committee for Women’s Football, Youth Football Committee, Medical Committee, Players Status Committee and an Emergency Committee, which will report to the NFA Executive Committee led by president Mbidi with his two Vice-Presidents as well as other ten executive members.
As per the recently revised constitution of NFA and the appointment of former NFA president John Muinjo as Honorary President, the Executive Committee additionally includes Korbian Viskaya Amutenya as was appointed as Honorary Vice-President of the NFA, who due to national duties did not attend the meeting.
Incumbent NFA Technical Director Klaus Stalke and both senior national team coaches Ricardo Mannetti and Jacqui Shipanga, all updated the Executive Committee on past activities and tabled their programmes on upcoming activities and areas of development, to which Rukoro said the Executive responded positively to and further endorsed their planned activities for their various departments.
Appointment of coaches and technical staff of the youth teams were recommended and approved. Mbidi and Rukoro also briefed the meeting about current capital projects of the association, which includes the construction of the Technical Centre and the Revenue Generation Programme (a Bed and Breakfast) that are situated near Football House amongst others.
The projects are funded by the FIFA through ‘FIFA Goal Project 4’ in conjunction with Government of Namibia through the Ministry of Youth, Sport and National Service.
The committee has decided to enforce that all members of the association should have constitutions. This means that it will become mandatory that all leagues and all member clubs should possess approved status before being accepted to participate in the activities of the association.
FIFA has committed to assist the NFA with the constitutional review of the Namibia Premier League. The association will then embark upon supporting the Nationwide First Division Leagues, the Regional Second Division Leagues as well as the member clubs to compile their constitutions.
