Daniel Ngesheya (23) was over the moon as he received a brand new welding machine this week, a vital piece of equipment he will make sure he optimally utilises to create amazing work to sell to his clients.
Ngesheya and others are some of the beneficiaries who received start up kits to boost their business endeavours.
SOS Children’s Villages Namibia, in partnership with the Finnish Embassy, hosted a handover ceremony this afternoon to provide business start-up kits valued at N$30 000. The kits were awarded to three businesses in the Oshana region, directly benefiting six young people.
“I am so proud to start my own business and I am asking you guys to come and support me. I am proud to be a welder, and an artisan and I will make beautiful products that people will like. They can call me for burglar bars and other items,” said the alumni of Ngato Vocational Training Centre.
This initiative forms part of the organization’s Youth Employability Project, which is dedicated to empowering young people with the necessary tools, skills, and resources to prepare them for employment and sustainable livelihoods.
Heita Hendricks (24) did clothing production at Ngato VTC and was over the moon to receive a sewing machine.
“The business is officially open and I can’t wait to start, so please come and support me,” said the joyous seamster.
The third beneficiary is Julia Nangolo, a 23-year-old who studied hospitality and tourism at the Cosdec. By fostering entrepreneurship, SOS Children’s Villages aims to create opportunities that enable young people to build independent and successful futures.
