WINDHOEK – The Namibia Institute of Pathology (NIP) has donated a stove and gas cylinder to Hillside Primary School, which is located in Windhoek’s Greenwell Matongo location yesterday.

The donation is for the school’s kitchen to make cooking easier when preparing meals for vulnerable children at the school.

The donation came after the school requested donations from the institution and the NIP decided to pledge N$10 000 to the school.

“We bought the gas stove for N$3 430.45 and the gas cylinder cost us N$1 258.80 and we will give the remaining N$5 310.75 in cash, which they can use to buy pots and plates and other needs,” said Jefta Gaoab, the marketing officer of NIP.

The school has a learner population of 1 130, but the soup kitchen only caters for orphans and vulnerable children with the government also providing food.

Nathalie Uaendere, the school’s principal is asking the business community to offer a helping hand to schools in the community.

“It should not only be the government,” said Uaendere. The school was established in 2007.
