NQA ropes in Green to shake up automation system

In a bold step toward modernising public services, the Namibia Qualifications Authority (NQA), in partnership with Green Enterprise Solutions, has launched a new Evaluation Automation System, promising to overhaul how Namibian qualifications are assessed and recognised.

The announcement, made last week, signals more than a routine system upgrade and marks a decisive shift in terms of removing bureaucratic bottlenecks that have slowed access to education and employment opportunities.

For years, the NQA relied on manual paper-heavy processes to evaluate qualifications. However, with the new system long turnaround times, administrative backlogs and limited transparency are eliminated.

With the new Evaluation Automation System applicants can submit applications online, upload supporting documents, track progress in real time and receive digitally verifiable certificates.

Internally, the system introduces automated workflows, data-driven decision-making tools, secure and auditable digital records.

The result is expected to be faster processing times, improved accuracy, and greater accountability, which are key factors to restore public trust in state institutions.

Unlike many large-scale government IT projects in Africa, this new system was built locally.

Green Enterprise Solutions developed the platform using cloud-based tools, including Microsoft’s enterprise technologies, delivering what officials describe as a fully scalable and secure solution tailored to Namibia’s needs.

The project, completed in just 12 months, highlights a growing trend that African countries are increasingly turning to homegrown tech expertise rather than relying solely on foreign contractors.

Officials have been quick to stress that the new system is not merely a digital upgrade but is a structural reform.

“This transition is about improving lives,” insiders note, pointing to the direct link between qualification recognition and access to jobs, promotions, and further education.

The NQA has noted that it is already working toward a broader digital ecosystem that will integrate its services, signalling that this launch is just the first phase of a wider transformation.
