Nudo fast losing credibility and accountability

Home Letters Nudo fast losing credibility and accountability

Under the leadership of late chief Kuaima Riruako, Nudo was not the political party to expel top leaders from the party and parliament because they were said to have engaged in wrongdoings. But after the takeover in 2013 by Team 13 (the Bala-Bala) the party is being run like a bazaar.

Under the new leadership, no constitutional meetings are taking place, e.g. NEC, national conference and no constituency conferences, too much interference in branch leaders’ functions like we saw in Okakarara, lack of respect even for the current president by the Bala-Bala team, let alone the most dissected and hated Dr Kuaima Riruako, and the party has failed to account for taxpayers’ money given to it by parliament for the 2013-2014 and 2014-2015 financial years, which is to the tune of about N$1.8 million.

Also, no audited financial report as per Nudo constitution has ever been submitted to authorised Nudo leadership structures.

Our legitimate demand for financial reports supported by the necessary source document has been ignored by the top 8 of the party and we do not even know who is supposed to run and control Nudo’s finances, whether it is the secretary general, deputy secretary general, secretary of finance or deputy secretary of finance.

These four officials are the ones running finances without the party’s authority and have become the apparent Nudo funders.

The party is being funded through cash loans from the deputy secretary general and the deputy finance secretary without approval from any party structure.

We hear that the secretary general was secretly funding Nudo during the last election and he is apparently waiting for taxpayers’ money to reach party coffers so that he can be refunded.

We are told that N$160 000 was spent on vehicles, yet there are no receipts, no sales agreements and nobody can verify the real cost of the said vehicles.

Nudo is not representing the interest of the Namibian people anymore. The interest has now been diverted to corrupt-minded people to protect the interest of the current Team 13 or Bala-Bala. The Bala-Bala team has all the know-how about the party and are violating party rules to keep themselves alive.

We appeal to all party members countywide to look into this pressing problem with a serious eye, because it tarnishes the reputation of the party and the founder president Kuaima Riruako. Let’s keep the fire which was lit by the Paramount Chief Kuaima Riruako alive!
