Nunuheb: Desert Rollers will regain form in second division

Nunuheb: Desert Rollers will regain form in second division

Following its slow start in the Namport Omaheke Second Division League, the Desert Rollers Sports Club (SC) collected maximum points over the weekend for the first time this season. This is viewed as motivation by the club management.

In an interview with Nampa, club chairperson Ludwig ‘Crooks’ Nunuheb said the team’s poor preparations for the league, which kicked off last December, is a major reason.

He said the players and officials who were busy with their final examinations contributed to the poor start in the league.

“The Presidential and National Assembly elections have also affected our team’s preparations as most of our players went on recess. This  hampered our start to the league. Obviously, we are willing to overturn them into success and capture the league trophy,” said Nunuheb.

On what attributed the change in trajectory to the winning ways, the chairperson said that is due to the training preparations they have put in place.

“These include proper training drills, tactics and technique. We keep our players in the camp, and that is one of the contributing factors to players’ motivation. We also managed to register our full squad to the league as well,” he said.

Amongst the Namport Omaheke Second Division League fixtures played over the weekend, Kanaan United FC crushed Mathat FC 9-0 on Saturday at Legare’s Field C.

This was followed by Omaheke NamPol, who defeated Tura Cosmos by a 2-1 scoreline, while Nossob FC lost to Desert Rollers SC 1-0 in the next match.

In Leonardville on Saturday, Kom Haal Hulle drew with Eastern Chiefs one-all at Billo Nawaseb Sports Complex, while Golden Boys FC used the home-ground advantage after beating Tough Guys by a solitary goal in the second match.

On Sunday, Omaheke Megasave FC humiliated Nossob FC 9-0 in the first game at Legare, while Desert stunned Epako Pirates 2-0 in the following encounter.

Omaheke NamPol clashed with Kanaan United with the latter easily winning 5-0, Tura Cosmos showed power and stunned Mathat 4-1 while Eastern Chiefs defeated Golden Boys 1-0.
