Nuunyango: A content creator’s success story

Nuunyango: A content creator’s success story

Kavetja Ngaizuvare

Taimi Nuunyango began her career as a makeup artist.

When Covid-19 started, it changed her work life.

She found a new way to share her talent.

Instead of only doing makeup, she started making videos on YouTube to share makeup tips.

That simple change opened a whole new door for her. Over time, Nuunyango grew her audience, and became one of Namibia’s top content creators.

She earned awards and titles that made her proud. Being named the second face of FlyNamibia and winning Tourist of the Year in 2023 showed her that influencing could be a career path.

“I learned to treat my work like a business. When I got a big campaign with Gondwana Collection in 2022, I knew my work had value. I made a rate card, a media kit and set up contracts. Every day became a chance to work hard and grow,” Nuunyango stated.

Her success is marked by many happy moments.  She won Makeup Artist of the Year in 2020, and worked with the Namibian Tourism Board.  Becoming the face of FlyNamibia and appearing on a billboard were dreams come true for her.

She always keeps her work fun and real, sharing both the good times and the struggles. One of the most defining moments came when Nuunyango secured deals with Pupkewitz Toyota and Shell.

“With Pupkewitz Toyota, it was about building relationships. I had worked with them before. I always kept things professional – even when opportunities were small. Then one day, the big opportunity came,” she narrated.

“For Shell, I noticed a product they had that wasn’t getting enough attention. So, I pitched an idea to both brands that brought them together, and it worked. That deal showed me that when you take initiative and believe in your ideas, great things can happen. These partnerships were more than just business deals. They were milestones,” she said.

“Personally, it felt like a dream come true. Professionally, it was proof that brands see the value I bring as a creator. It made me believe even more in what I do,” remarked Nuunyango.

Through it all, she has stayed true to herself.  Her brand is known for being real, emotional and relatable.

Her story is not only about building a brand.

It is also about staying true to who she is.

Nuunyango wants young black girls to know that they do not have to wait to enjoy life.  Even when times are hard, there is always a way to explore and dream.

The influencer uses Instagram, TikTok and YouTube to share her ideas.

Her YouTube channel now has over 24 000 subscribers.

She works hard to reach an even larger audience.  Nuunyango plans her posts ahead of time.  She often makes videos in batches.

Although she mostly works alone, she values the help of her friends and family.

Her journey shows that with passion and hard work, challenges can be turned into success.

Her story inspires others to be real and to follow their dreams.
