By Staff Reporter WINDHOEK One of several applicants jostling for the position of NBC’s Director-General, vacant since the resignation last year of Gerry Munyama, has withdrawn his application. Following recent developments, one of the applicants for the executive position, Vincent Mwange, a National Council official yesterday withdrew his candidature for the post. In a letter addressed to Ponhele ya France, the chairman of the NBC board, Mwange stated: “I hereby wish to withdraw my candidature for the post of NBC Director-General on professional grounds. “The withdrawal is necessitated by the way the whole recruitment process has been conducted thus far. “Nonetheless, I wish you all the best in your en-deavours to get the best person for the position. If there are any queries regarding my withdrawal, please do not hesitate to contact me,” Mwange stated. Several people have applied for the position among them Umbi Karuaihe-Upi, the NBC’s General Manager for Radio Services; Claudia Iikela the General Manager for Television; and Mushitu Mukwame, the Editor News. Stanley Simataa, the interim NBC Director General; Bob Vezera Kandetu, formerly the Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting; and Penny Uukunde previously the NBC’s Controller: News and Current Affairs, are the other applicants. The former manager for local programmes at the NBC Stanley Similo, currently the human resources manager at the First National Bank (FNB), Dr Umo Kakujaha, Dr Chris Hoveka, Dr Rukee Tjingaete, Milka Mungunda and Caroline Dunaiski are also on the list of applicants.
