OSHAKATI – A total of 51 vehicles were reportedly stolen in the Ohangwena region over the last 22 months.

The Namibian Police Force’s regional commander, Commissioner Ottilie Kashuupulwa said this number comprises 22 vehicles stolen between January and October this year, and 29 recorded as stolen between January and December 2022.

The vehicles were mostly stolen from the Eenhana, Endola Engela, Oshikango, Ondobe and Ohangwena areas.

“Among the stolen vehicles are Toyota Corollas and other older Toyota models,” she added.

Furthermore, Kashuupulwa revealed that of the total 51 stolen vehicles, 10 were recovered in Angola and repatriated.

“Many of the vehicles are taken to Angola once stolen, and some are still in Angola. It is a long process to repatriate them from Angola,” she noted.

Kashuupulwa thus urged vehicle owners to safeguard their vehicles by ensuring that they are parked in a secure place.
