Okakarara third division playoff set for weekend

Okakarara third division playoff set for weekend

The Okakarara third division football league will have its promotion playoff this weekend at the Okondjatu Sports ground in Otjozondjupa region.

The playoff games comprised six teams from Okamatapati, Okondjatu, and Okakarara streams.

Wilson Nguvauva, the coordinator of the Okakarara Football League (OFL) said each stream’s winner and runners-up will compete for the top place.

“The winner from these playoffs will qualify to compete for the second division promotion playoffs against winners from the Okahandja, Otjiwarongo, Otavi, and Grootfontein third division leagues,” explained Nguvauva.

The coordinator added that they completed their third division league successfully and their dream is to have a team from OFL in the second division.

Okamatapati Combined School won the Okamatapati stream, followed by Ekuija Monjama as runners-up, while Onduezu claimed the Okakarara stream with Okakarara VTC as runners-up.

Okondjatu’s Farm Boys football team won their stream and was challenged by Ozombungu in second place.

“Our teams showed a high level of commitment and the hunger for success. I was at their training grounds and all eye victories,” said Nguvauva.

On Saturday at 08h00, Ozombungu FC from Okondjatu will lock horns against Okakarara Vocational Training Center (VTC) in the first match of the runners-up games.

At 12h00, Okakarara-based VTC will return to the field facing Ekuja Monjama in the second match of runners-up while Ozombungu FC and Ekuija Monjama will play against each other at 15h00.

The stream winners’ matches are set for Sunday with Onduezu FC from Okakarara opening the proceedings against Okondjatu’s Farm Boys FC.

At 10h00, Okamatapati Combined School will play against the winner of the runners-up.

The finals of the playoffs are set at 14h00.

The days for Otjozondjupa third division promotion playoffs are yet to be announced.

The coordinator urged the participating teams to respect the kickoff time for the smooth running of the playoffs.

“We do not want unnecessary delays, and the spirit of sportsmanship must be observed throughout these games,” concluded Nguvauva.
