Home Sports Okapya annual tournament set for December

The third edition of the annual Okapya Sport Tournament is set to take place from 24-28 December at Eleven Morning Stars Sport Field near Andimba Ya Toivo Airport at Ondangwa.
As has become customary, the main objective of this tournament is to bring the community together during festive season with the hope of strengthening existing community ties and also reducing crime during that period, as the youth will be occupied with sport festivities.

The inaugural edition took place in 2018 and it attracted 20 teams – and the second instalment of the tournament held last year attracted an improved 28 teams, which also saw more than 10 Namibia Premier League (NPL) players partaking in the event.
For this year, the competition is expected to attract more teams from all 14 regions – and for the first time, the organisers have announced the tourney will feature netball and football.

“Besides the sport events, we are also giving platform to SMEs to come sell their products during the tournament and exhibition stalls are up for grabs for N$500; space is limited. It Is first come first served. So far, the following companies have confirmed their sponsorship towards Okapya Annual  Sport tournament: Top Score, Atai Investment CC, Piyet Service, G2g Media, Akindaba Style, Onambula Investment Group, Kashipu Investment Cc, BusyBoys Namibia, Namibian Pound,” said the organisers.
