O&L Leisure concludes wage talks

O&L Leisure concludes wage talks

O&L Leisure this week announced the successful conclusion of wage negotiations with a new agreement effective from 1 July 2024 being reached.

O&L Leisure is a subsidiary of the Ohlthaver & List (O&L) Group.

No details of the new agreement have been revealed yet as the group said it is still in the process of concluding negotiations with some of its operating companies and their respective unions.

“Due to the diverse nature of our group, each company has its own agreements tailored to meet the unique needs of their workforce, which is why we have not provided specific percentage increases in our media releases,” a group spokesperson responded upon enquiry.

A statement further noted the negotiation process was “driven by the company’s commitment to creating a workplace where every employee can thrive. The agreement reached ensures employees are fairly
rewarded for their invaluable contributions, while also supporting the long-term sustainability and growth of the business.

The group added that the wage agreement reflects the company’s dedication to enhancing employee satisfaction and fostering a motivating work environment.

“This agreement is also a strategic step towards achieving the ambitious financial targets by 2029. These are in line with Vision 2029, which aspires for a future where O&L is recognised as a top global employer and a leader in sustainable business practices,” the statement added.

Sven Thieme, acting managing director of O&L Leisure, expressed gratitude to all parties involved in the negotiations: “This agreement exemplifies our unwavering commitment to our employees and our shared vision for 2029. We believe that by being authentic and responsible in our approach to employee rewards, we are not only securing the future of our business but also empowering our employees to bring their best selves to work every day.”

The Workers’ Council representative, Gerhard Siyemo also welcomed the outcome of the negotiations: “This agreement represents a significant achievement for our members. It reflects the company’s recognition of the hard work and dedication of the employees, and we believe it will have a positive impact on their well-being and motivation as we continue to work together towards shared success.”

The company expressed confidence the new agreement will boost employee morale, productivity, and contribute positively to overall performance.

O&L Leisure operates properties such as the iconic family haven, Midgard; the Strand Hotel Swakopmund; the Mokuti Etosha; and the Chobe Water Villas.
