Omuhoko Trust donates uniforms to Singalamwe school

KATIMA MULILO – A donation of 50 school kits was handed over to learners at Singalamwe Combined School in the Zambezi region on Tuesday.

Each of the 50 kits includes socks, school shoes, a backpack, a shirt and a pair of trousers or a skirt. The kits were made available by PwC’s corporate social responsibility division, the Omuhoko Trust, and is valued at over N$40 000.

The contribution, made possible by PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), was facilitated by Zambezi resident Kabende Kabende.

He said another donation of jackets or jerseys will be delivered to the school before the end of the first term.

He attributed the donation to interventions by social media users, adding that Singalamwe Combined School was selected because of its high number of vulnerable learners.

“We understand that for many learners having the appropriate attire can ease the burden of attending school, and help foster a sense of belonging and confidence. School uniforms are not just clothing, but a symbol of unity and shared pursuit of knowledge,” he stated.

Singalamwe school has 378 learners.

On her part, principal Muchezi Lishokomosi said the school faces numerous challenges such as lack of an administration block. They are thankful for assistance, and hope the donation will empower the learners to devote their time to their studies.

Mukonda Tiki, a parent of a grade six learner, said it is a welcome gesture since he is unemployed, and it will motivate his son to strive for better results.

The event was amongst others attended by cluster centre principal Benedict Nalisa.
