The Ondobe Annual Youth Expo in Ohangwena is ready to return with another banger of a show after hosting a successful Volume One last year.

The youth expo that took place last year at Sam Mweshipandeka business park in November had over 41 local exhibitors and the patron of the event, governor of the region Walde Ndevashiya pledged N$20 000 for the expo.

Speaking to Youth Corner, deputy chairperson of the event David Nghipondoka, highlighted that the last event was a success and had over 6 000 visitors in a period of four days.

“We had so many visitors for our first-ever youth expo and it was a success. This year, we plan on making it bigger and better for all visitors and exhibitors. We are increasing the number of security guards on the ground and adding more stalls to accommodate the increasing number of this year’s exhibitors,” said Nghipondoka.

He highlighted that during last year’s expo, they experienced a major problem with electricity because they only had one phase of electricity for all their exhibitors.

“We are now ready to use three-phase electricity, meaning our electricity will no longer trip on our exhibitors,” said Nghipondoka.

He further maintained that with last year’s profits, he and his business partners managed to donate stationary to various schools in the region.

Nghipondoka maintained that this year’s expo in December will include stalls that sell second-hand clothes.

The venue is the Sam Mweshipandeka business park and expo runs from 19 to 23 December 2023.

Business partner Vilho Kaulinge highlighted that exhibitors are already calling every day, asking about the registration for their stalls.

“Luckily, we are starting with registrations before the end of this week. Artists are also calling asking for bookings and trying to submit their quotations so they can perform,” said Kaulinge.

He emphasised that this year, they are looking forward to everyone coming and experiencing the youth expo.
