Woman allegedly kills brother at Oshikuni

Woman allegedly kills brother at Oshikuni

A 24-year-old woman is expected to appear  in the Okongo Magistrate’s Court today after allegedly fatally stabbing her 30-year-old brother with a knife on Saturday at Oshikuni village in Ohangwena region.

Warrant Officer Andreas Nghiyolwa of Ohangwena confirmed the incident, identifying the deceased as Thomas Abraham.

A police report says the suspect returned home late at night from a cuca shop.

She found her brother sleeping in their mother’s bedroom, with other family members.

The police said the suspect began insulting their mother.

“When the deceased asked her to stop the insults, she refused, which led to a heated argument between the siblings,” police reported.

During the confrontation, the suspect allegedly took a knife and stabbed her brother once in the chest. He died on the spot.

She faces charges of murder and gender-based violence (GBV).

Police investigations are ongoing.

Police have advised the public to avoid engaging in arguments with individuals returning from cuca shops, as this can degenerate into tragic situations.
