Otjisazu Guest Farm, located near Okahandja, holds deep historical and cultural significance.
Otjisazu Guest Farm is one of Namibia’s oldest farms.
It was once the site of key events in the country’s colonial and liberation-era history.
The area was a vital centre for early OvaHerero-German interactions and still bears the legacy of these complex historical dynamics.
When the old OvaHerero settlement became a missionary station, the Otjisazu Guest Farm was established as a missionary in 1872.
The Miss Teen Namibia 2025 Finalists toured the Otjisazu Guest Farm, a place that has a historical background spanning from the time of the German colony, South West Africa, founded in 1904 to the modern and independent Namibia.
“The Miss Teen Namibia 2025 finalists paid a visit to this historic site not only to connect with Namibia’s heritage but also to engage in cultural enrichment, photo shoots and video production that celebrate the nation’s diversity and spirit,” said public relations manager at NBC Beaulah Boois-Beukes.
She added that this experience is part of their journey of becoming young ambassadors for Namibia, grounded in history and inspired to shape the future.
“They were treated to game and nature drives, recorded their video inserts for the crowning ceremony and produced content for the rest of Namibia to get to know who they are ahead of the main show,” she stated.
Years ago, the 28-kilometre (km) farm served as a mission station for the Rheinische Mission.
There is still a wall from the original church visible in the reception area.
Otjisazu stands as a symbol of resilience and reconciliation, with the farmhouse beautifully refurbished.
The farmhouse and guest rooms are located amidst the vast colourful garden.
It offers a rich narrative of Namibia’s past through its preserved buildings, natural landscapes and community-based experiences that promote understanding of rural Namibian life.
