One of Namibia’s leading boxing stables, AC Boxing Promotions will host a boxing bonanza on 10 June at the Nampower Convention Centre in the capital to raise funds for a six-month-old baby girl who suffers from a severe brain injury. 

Baby Metha’s family is in dire need of financial assistance to cover her medical expenses for treatment in India. It will cost about N$ 500 000. 

Founder of AC Promotions Imms Moses said the boxing event is their way of contributing to a noble cause. 

“It is an opportunity for us to support Baby Metha’s family and help fund her medical treatment. With about nine fights scheduled for the night, including the main bout between Flame Nangolo and Zimbabwe’s Tinashe Mwadziwana, the event promises to be an exciting one,” he said. 

Moses added that the focus of the night will be on Baby Metha whose plight has touched the hearts of many. 

“According to the latest doctor’s report, Baby Metha has suffered a devastating brain injury. As of late, medical reports shows that she has very little brain tissue left which is even only posterior fossa content, part of her brain stream, and calcified thalami; the rest, unfortunately, is encephalomalacia,” he explained. 

Encephalomalacia is the softening or loss of brain tissue after cerebral infarction, cerebral ischemia, infection, craniocerebral trauma, or other injury. 

Moses said there is little prospect of improvement of her condition and as a result, she needs urgent medical care to better her condition and successfully get the medication she needs. 

Nangolo, the headline act for the night, expressed his eagerness to step into the ring and face his opponent in an effort to help Baby Metha get the help she needs. 

He exuded confidence and spoke about his plans to keep his belt and add more titles to his name. 

The boxing bonanza is an opportunity for the Namibian boxing community to come together and make a difference in the life of a little girl who needs it the most.
