Disability leader fined for indicent assault

RUNDU – The Rundu Magistrate’s Court recently fined the town’s disability affairs coordinator an amount of N$8 000, after being found guilty of taking advantage of a client he assisted from his office.

Linus Hausiku Kazana’s (48) job is to facilitate and assist the vulnerable people as the disability support leader under the Office of the President.

“The accused is guilty of the crime of indecent assault,” the court said to Kazana, who appeared before Rundu magistrate Sonia Samupofu.

According to court documents seen by this journalist, on 27 February at the disability offices at the Government Office Park, Kazana allegedly unlawfully, indecently and lasciviously assaulted a female client by grabbing her, forcing himself onto her for a kiss, touching her inappropriately on her private parts.

Kazana, who is back at work, was fined N$8 000, alternatively a 12-month sentence. He paid the fine.

Prosecutor Michael Munika represented the State in the matter.
