Governor tells CRO to hit the ground running

NKURENKURU – Kavango West governor Sirkka Ausiku has congratulated newly appointed chief regional officer Mpasi Haingura, but urged him to hit the ground running.

Haingura, who served as the council’s director of general services since its establishment, has been appointed as CRO for a five-year term. He takes over from the region’s founding CRO, Mpasi Katewa, who retired last month.

Governor Ausiku said in an interview with New Era that the new CRO must act swiftly on service delivery. She is also looking forward to working with Haingura to push the region’s development agenda.

“We expect him to lead his team to deliver services to the community of the Kavango West region, especially during this time of the Covid-19 pandemic,’’ she noted.

“No delays in the implementation of projects and programmes. At the same time, we would like to thank the founding CRO Dr Mpasi Katewa for his service to the young region,’’ she added.

The governor said the region lacks various services, and the inhabitants are looking up to the local government for service delivery. Kavango West is challenged by a lack of infrastructure such as roads, schools and clinics, amongst others.

The Kavango West Regional Council also appointed Egidius Nambara as director for planning and development services, effective 1 December. He takes over from Christella Mwenyo, who in May got a promotion as the Oshikoto region’s CRO.

Before his appointment, Nambara served the regional council as deputy director for planning and development services since 2017.
