Oshikoto police tell livestock owners to be vigilant

TSUMEB – The Namibian Police’s spokesperson in the Oshikoto region, Ellen Nehale, has advised livestock owners in the region to be vigilant at all times and count their animals on a daily basis.

This follows the arrest of a 32-year-old Namibian man who allegedly slaughtered a cow on Farm Tsumore close to Tsumeb, without the owner’s consent.

According to Nehale on Tuesday, the incident reportedly happened on Monday at 8h00 when the suspect entered the complainant’s farm and slaughtered one cow using snare wires that he had set up.

She further advised farmers to acquire the necessary documents such as transportation permits from the veterinary offices when transporting animals to prevent stock theft.

The carcass is recovered and police investigations continue.
