The Otjimanangombe ladies won the netball category of the Omaheke and Otjozondjupa Top 10 Championship Tournament held at Khomasdal Stadium last Sunday. 

A total of 16 netball and 22 football teams participated in the tournament, whose total prize money was N$38 000 plus trophies and medals. 

In the s emi f inal s , Otjimanangombe defeated Belskop 48-33. 

Fine Young Stars defeated Omuramba 43-39 in the second semifinal. 

Otjimanangombe went on to win the competition 38-30 after cruising past Fine Young Stars in the final. 

The winning team received N$5 000, a trophy, and 12 gold medals, whereas Fine Young Stars took home N$2 500 plus silver medals as runners-up. 

The two losing semifinalists, Belskop and Omuramba, received N$1 250 each. 

T he man a ge r of Otjimanangombe, Japandera Kamburona, told New Era Sport that his team won two finals in the space of two weeks. 

“We are happy; our girls showed a high level of commitment in themselves, and they are fit as most of them play league games. We want to keep this momentum and win every tournament coming our way,” Kamburona said. 

Otjimanangombe also won the Omaheke top 8 netball series held in Gobabis recently. In the football tournament, the eight quarterfinalists had to share the prize money as the tournament could not be completed as scheduled. 

Each team received N$3 000 each as the organisers failed to secure stadium venues to facilitate the completion of the tournament. 

The teams that received money are Ovituua, Hoslek, Otjimati, Omuramba, Okauua Rising Stars, Pamue Eleven, and Okatupapa.
