The Otjomuise neighbourhood on the outskirts of the capital Windhoek was shaken by a tragic incident that claimed the life of Kevin Kasuto, a 38-year-old resident.
Initial reports emerging from local authorities said Kasuto was fatally stabbed on 20 July 2024 around 13h52 in Ompanda Street.
Details are still emerging, and the exact circumstances surrounding the incident remain unclear.
It is alleged that Kasuto was attacked with a knife, resulting in a fatal wound to his neck. Emergency services responded swiftly to the scene, but he succumbed to his injuries on the spot.
Authorities have taken a 28-year-old female suspect into custody in connection with the incident. The police have also reported that the alleged murder weapon, believed to be the knife used in the attack, has been recovered. The investigation is ongoing, and no further details about the motive or the events leading up to the stabbing have been confirmed at this time.
No official statements have been released by Namibian Police spokesperson Kauna Shikwambi regarding the incident, and there have been no reports of eyewitness accounts.
In other news, a serene evening at Walvis Bay’s Independence Beach turned tragic when an unidentified adult female collapsed while walking, leading to her untimely death. The incident, which occurred around 18h30, was witnessed by vigilant security guards on duty, who acted swiftly by alerting law-enforcement.
Responding promptly, the authorities rushed to the scene, and quickly transported the woman to a nearby hospital. Despite efforts to save her, medical personnel pronounced her dead upon arrival.
Described as wearing a distinctive ensemble – a white furry jersey layered over a blue jacket, paired with peach trousers, a peach blouse and black Adidas sneakers – the woman remains unidentified. In an effort to notify her family or loved ones, the Tutaleni police station has issued a plea to anyone who may be missing a woman matching this description to come forward.
