Otjozondjupa registers nearly 3 000 new voters 

OTJIWARONGO – The Electoral Commission of Namibia in the Otjozondjupa region has so far registered nearly 3 000 new eligible voters during the general supplementary registration of voters , which started countrywide on 4 August 2025. 

The registration ends on 19 August 2025.Otjozondjupa regional electoral officer, Victoria Amutenya, upon enquiry on Tuesday, informed Nampa that 2 965 new voters have been captured so far since 4 August 2025 in all seven constituencies of Otjozondjupa. 

The highest number of 635 voters was registered in the Okakarara constituency, followed by Omatako with 598 voters. Okahandja registered 447 voters, Otjiwarongo 349, Tsumkwe 383, Grootfontein 327 and Otavi 226. 

Amuntenya expressed satisfaction with the newly captured number of eligible voters, saying, “Most of those we registered since 4 August 2025 are new applicants, followed by those that changed addresses. Very few turned up for reprinting duplicates of their voter cards.” The registration process is continuing from 08h00 until 19h00 from Monday to Saturday, while Sundays are reserved for uploading collected voter information, she said. 

A total of 52 teams in the region are conducting the exercise targeting Namibians who lost their voter cards, turned 18 years, changed names and surnames, relocated from their previous towns and constituencies or who want to replace their damaged ECN voter cards, to enable them to participate in the regional council and local authority elections on 26 November this year.
